Safety Coordinator - 1 Year Term Position
Rob Smith & Son Backhoe & Trucking Ltd. is a COR certified company engaged in the construction industry in Manitoba. The base of operations is located in rural Manitoba just north of Neepawa, MB.
Responsibilities/Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain training records.
- Maintain Health and Safety Manual.
- Monthly inspection of fire extinguishers and first aid kits on trucks, equipment and sites.
- Monthly inspection of office, yard and shop and worksites for Safety and Health Program.
- Attend jobsites when necessary to complete Health and Safety electronic documentation.
- Maintain Sitedocs Health and Safety Program.
- Facilitate companywide re-orientation.
- Facilitate biweekly toolbox talks.
- Answer telephone and direct calls.
- Filing.
- Review Sitedocs daily and record relevant information.
- Occasionally drive to Neepawa, Brandon or Winnipeg for parts or supplies with company vehicle.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant should possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Energetic, self-motivated with a desire to learn.
- Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Excel, MS Office and Google Docs with an ability to adapt to other software applications.
- Experience with Sitedocs or a fleet management system would be an asset but would train.
- Valid Class 5 driver?s license.
- The ability to safely mount and dismount large equipment in order to check fire extinguishers.
- Will be required to take WHMIS training among other courses as required.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment as the need requires.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
- COR Health and Safety training is an asset but can be trained.
- Ability to multitask and take direction from others.
We offer competitive compensation based on experience and knowledge. This is a full-time 1-year term position with work hours Monday to Friday 7AM to 3PM.
