The Russ Edwards School of Agriculture and Environment is excited to be recruiting faculty positions for our new Mechatronics Engineering Technology program.

Key Responsibilities:
Core Areas of Expertise (Required for all candidates)
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems, including system architecture, commissioning, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
- Practical experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in industrial environments.
- Applied understanding of process control, including feedback systems, PID control, tuning concepts, and industrial troubleshooting.
- Experience working with industrial sensors, actuators, motor control systems, and safety circuits.
- Ability to read, interpret, and teach from technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and control narratives.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver hands-on, applied instruction that integrates theory with real-world industrial practice.
- Additional Areas of Strength (Candidates may have strengths in one or more of the following areas)
- PLC programming using Siemens (TIA Portal) and/or Rockwell Automation (FactoryTalk/Studio 5000) platforms.
- Automation system integration, including PLC?HMI?robot?sensor interaction.
- Robotics programming and integration, including industrial robots, safety systems, and vision applications.
- HMIs and industrial communication networks
- Exposure to industrial data systems, IoT, or cloud-connected manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting industry-driven applied research, capstone projects, or co-op students.
Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and significant applied industry experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in industrial automation, control systems, or related applied technologies, gained through industry practice, applied research, and/or post-secondary instruction.
- Relevant industry experience (typically five or more years) in areas such as automation systems, PLCs, process control, instrumentation, robotics integration, or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Post-secondary teaching experience is an asset; candidates with strong industry backgrounds and an interest in applied teaching are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Professional certification or designation (e.g., P.Eng., C.Tech., C.E.T., or Red Seal in Instrumentation, Automation or a related trade) is an asset.
- A graduate degree in a relevant discipline is an asset, particularly where it supports applied teaching or industry-focused research.
- Willingness to pursue or maintain instructional qualifications as required by Assiniboine College.
