Position Overview
The Home & Gift Department Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the Home & Gift department while playing a key role in managing the front-end customer experience. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment, enjoys working at the register, and takes pride in creating smooth, positive checkout experiences.
Working closely with Ownership, Senior Management, and the Technology Services Manager, this role also supports the ongoing operation and growth of the Green Spot Insider Rewards program. This includes helping customers engage with the program and ensuring staff consistently follow best practices at the register.

Key Responsibilities
Department Leadership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Home & Gift department during daily operations
- Support, guide, and schedule department and front register staff during peak periods
- Maintain department standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation
- Lead by example through active participation on the sales floor and at the register
Front-End Operations & Customer Experience
- Oversee the overall flow and efficiency of the front registers
- Support staff during busy periods to maintain fast, accurate, and friendly service
- Ensure consistent execution of checkout procedures and customer interactions
- Assist with resolving customer questions, concerns, and transaction issues
Insider Rewards Program Support
- Work closely with the Technology Services Manager to support the operation and development of the Insider Rewards program
- Help ensure customers are consistently offered and enrolled in the program at checkout
- Educate customers on how to earn and redeem points
- Support staff training and consistency in capturing customer information and attaching accounts to sales
Customer Engagement & Sales Support
- Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the store, with a focus on the front-end experience
- Support sales by ensuring smooth and positive final interactions at checkout
- Assist customers with product inquiries, gift selection, and general store navigation
Merchandising & Inventory
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing Home & Gift department
- Assist with inventory accuracy, restocking, and product rotation
- Provide feedback on product performance and customer preferences
Team & Store Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with all departments to support store-wide initiatives
- Provide feedback and ideas to improve front-end processes and customer experience
- Support in-store events, promotions, and seasonal initiatives

Qualifications
- Experience in retail, with leadership or senior sales experience preferred
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on efficiency and problem-solving
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- POS experience required; Lightspeed experience is an asset
- Comfortable working with customer accounts, loyalty programs, and basic technical processes
- A positive, proactive approach to supporting both customers and staff
