No need to change

I actually look forward to changing my clocks. I know its bizarre, but I appreciate the benefits of the switch. It also gives me a chance to sync all the clocks in my house.
I think we have to remember we live at 50 degrees north latitude. That means that we have barely 8 hours of sunlight on the winter solstice and over 16 hours of sunlight on the summer solstice. That is an 8 hour swing over 6 months.
The closer you are to the equator the more consistent your daylight hours are. For example, Los Angeles has just shy of 10 hours of sunlight on the winter solstice and 14 hours on the summer solstice. That is only a 4 hour swing. Get down to Mexico City and the swing is even less.
My point is, that sticking on one time zone is going to have less of an impact in LA, than it will here. Remaining on daylight time here will mean that the sun will rise an hour earlier. As it is, on June 21 the sun rises at 5:31 a.m., but if we remained on standard time it would be 4:30 a.m. I'm sorry, but I like to be sound asleep at 4:30 a.m.
Scientists say standard time is better because it means we have more morning daylight. That may be true in LA where there is 14 hours of daylight in the summer and 9 in the winter, but what does that do for us when we have 16 hours of daylight to contend with in June? At least with the switch we get morning sun in Winter, and evening sun in Summer.
The one hour shift has no impact on me. I have crossed a time zone and it affects me no worse than that. I say leave it alone. Just because the US does it, all of which is south of us, doesn't mean we should do it. The switch has other benefits here that may not work in the US.
But if a switch has to be made, please go to daylight time, not standard. At least the Bill has that right.
